Architect Extensions turn an ugly house into a lovely house

When our clients decided they needed Architect extensions, they approached the experts at Hunter Architects & Planners as we had a wide range of experience of turning an ugly house into a lovely house.

An Architect Extension differs from a typical house extension by the approach and vision backed up with the knowledge and experience of working with a wide range of clients and houses.

Good Architect Extensions look beyond the functional and aesthetic by considering the current and future needs of the family, the opportunities and threats as well as the essence of what makes a house a home.
This current project sought an architect extension and remodelling to make the best use of space, create additional living and bedroom accommodation as well as improving the appearance of the house from the street.

This particular architect extension had the added challenge of trying to create a house from a dormer bungalow (LINK) without lifting the main roof of the house. The original flat roof dormers to the front and rear of the property gave the property a dated look but created difficult challenges as the house was generally very narrow.

The street scene was improved by creating an architectural designed gable extension to the front of the property to create a new double height entrance feature and provide additional head height to the first floor.

This designed by an architect extension completely changes the appearance and feel of the house in a simple but elegant way.

To the rear of the property, a substantial architect extension was created to the rear of the property, which overlooks the substantial mature gardens. A new master bedroom suite, with vaulted ceilings, dressing room and master en-suite were incorporated into this architect extension.

The flow of the house was an important part of the client’s brief. Our clients, while having a big family and hosting many dinner parties wanted the house to work well for both formal and informal requirements.
An elderly parent also created the need to create a separate ground floor bedroom suite in this architect extension, which provided easy access to the rest of the ground floor and garden, while also providing a sense of privacy and independence.
