Detached Prestbury replacement architectural designed self build home
PERFECTING THE PLOT IN PRESTBURY – creating a new self build home
Sitting in an enviable position within the affluent village of Prestbury, the original detached dwelling remained largely intact since its original construction although small additions had been made to try and update it.
Our clients saw the opportunity to create a family self build home for themselves however the location of this Prestbury house and the overall plot was the only real thing that they liked and approached Hunter Architects to inspire them and create a modern self build home which met their brief.
After considering several strategies it was felt that a new self build home solution would be the most efficient and effective solution to overcome the limitations of the existing house.
A contemporary, yet, contextual approach was taken referencing the existing house and also other properties in the road, many of which had been substantially extended or rebuilt in recent years.
The resulting bespoke home creates 4,500 sq ft of space and create a more functional layout internally whilst allowing the rear of the self build home to benefit from the plot setting.
A new entrance and staircase creates a striking first appearance as you enter the self build home, with a double height space and picture window over the rear garden creating a dynamic space which leads on to the core rooms in the house.
The master bedroom features a dressing room, en-suite and balcony which not only provides good daylighting and views but also provides a sheltered private space for the owners of the property.
